description: This research project is designed to deal interdisciplinarily with theological and religious vocabulary in Estonian language, taking into account the most influential foreign languages. Among other things the origins of the theological and religious Estonian vocabulary will be considered, its development, linguistic-cultural and ecclesial-theological influences, lingvistic and semantic aspects, the problematics of translation and normativeness.
One main goal of this project is to analyze and organize contemporary Estonian religious vocabulary. The results of the research will be published as 1. Scientific publications according to component parts of the research program, and as 2. A summary of the work of the committee of terminology which will be formed as a sub-project to the main research project. Within the framework of this project one doctoral dissertation and one master's thesis will be written.
This project will be the first far-reaching attempt to order Estonian theological and religious vocabulary and to open it to the interdisciplinary research after the occupation..
