13. | Teadustöö põhisuunad | - inimesele oluliste (keskkonna)toksikantide mõju uurimine erineval bioloogilise organisatsiooni tasemel:molekulidest selgrootute organismideni (in vitro) - in vitro testpatareide välja töötamine kemikaalide (sh inimese tervist ohustavate mürgiste kemikaalide) toksilisuse hindamiseks ja toksilisuse mehhanismide uurimiseks - ökotoksikoloogiliste testide rakendamine eeluuringute tasemel uute kemikaalide (sh ravimikandidaatide ja nanoosakeste) toksilisuse hindamiseks: 3R strateegia (loomkatsete osakaalu vähendamine in vitro testimismeetodite laialdasema kasutamise teel). - rekombinantsete sensorbakterite (bioreporterite) konstrueerimine, modifitseerimine ja rakendamine toksikantide mõjumehhanismide uurimisel. - rekombinantsete sensorbakterite mehhanismipõhine modifitseerimine nende tundlikkuse ja spetsiifilisuse suurendamiseks.
