13.Teadustöö põhisuunad a) Solvendiefektid, mõju füüsikalis-keemilistele omadustele ja reaktsioonidele. Solvendi (sh. solventide segude) ja lahustunud aine vaheliste vastasmõjude uurimine. Lahustunud aine omaduste (spektraalsete, happe-aluse) lahustist sõltuvuse uurimine.
b) Binaarsete segude omadused. Solvatokroomsete solvendi polaarsuse indikaatorite abil solventide ja nende segude omaduste uurimine. Binaarsete segude kasutamine eluentidena kõrgefektiivses vedelikkromatograafias.
c) Mõõtemääramatuse hindamine keemilises analüüsis. Käsitletakse keemiametroloogia õpetamist Tartu Ülikoolis. Töötati välja metoodika mõõtemääramatuse hindamiseks nõrkade hapete dissotsiatsioonikonstantide potentsiomeetrilisel määramisel.
d) Superaluselisus ja –happelisus. Ainete aluselis-happeliste omaduste uurimine kasutades kvantkeemilisi arvutusi.

13.Current research program a) Solvents effects, influence on physico-chemical properties and reactions. Investigation of interactions between solvent (including solvent mixtures) and solutes. Examining influence of solvent on properties (spectral, acid-base) of solute.
b) Properties of binarty solvent mixtures.Investigation of properties of solvents and solvent mixtures by means of solvent polarity indicators. Using binary solvent mixtures as eluents in high precision liquid chromatography.
c) Estimation of measurement uncertainty in chemistry. Review of teaching metrology in chemistry at the University of Tartu. A procedure for estimation of uncertainty in measurement of the dissociation constants of weak acids by potentiometric titration was worked out.
d) Superbasicity and -acidity. Investigation of acid-base properties of substances using quantum chemical calculations.
