13.Teadustöö põhisuunad Mikrotopograafia teke ning roll raba ökosüsteemi stabiilsuse säilitamisel muutuvates keskkonnatingimustes, raba arengu seos keskkonnatingimustega ning paleoökoloogilised uuringud, turba mineralisatsioon ja mikrotopograafia kui metaani emissiooni kontrolliv faktor, inimmõju - s.h. atmosfäärisaaste ja militaartegevuse mõju soodele.
