1993.a. korraldasin koostöös IWRB-ga rahvusvahelise treeningkursuse järvede taastamise teemal; 1994.a. koostöös Kuopio Ülikooli ja Eesti Kalaametiga organiseerisin kalandusalased kursused; 1996.a. organiseerisin Eesti koolide bioloogiaõpetajatele täienduskursused. 2001. mais organiseerisin Tallinnas NATO pilootprojekti “ Modeling Nutrient load and responses in river and estuary systems”töökoosoleku. 2003. aasta mais korraldasin VII Rahvusvahelise Kalade Füsioloogia, Toksikoloogia ja Vee Kvaliteedi sümpoosioni Tallinnas. Alates 1997. a. loen Tartu Ülikoolis kalade füsioloogia ja loomade ökofüsioloogia kursuseid. Aastast 1997 Eesti Toksikoloogia Seltsi liige. Aastast 1997 Rahvusvahelise Interdistsiplinaarse Bioindikaatorite Alase Komisjoni (Interdisciplinary Commission on Bioindicators, The International Union of Biological Sciences - IUBS) liige. EPMÜ Zooloogia ja Botaanika Instituudi teadusnõukogu liige. Eesti Põllumajandusülikooli doktorinõukogu liige. CCMS/NATO Pilootprojekti välitööde meeskonna juht 1999-2003. Alates 2001 Jõgede bioloogia töörühma juht.
