duration: 01.01.2002 - 31.12.2005
description: Current study is concentrated on the world species of fungus gnats genus Cordyla Meigen, 1803 (Diptera, Mycetophilidae). The revision of palaearctic species is in completion phase by applicant. There is no revision or analyze for nearctic species as well as of paleontological species. For authentic results in cladistics and zoogeographic analysis treatment of material from all zoogeographical regions and also the paleontological findings are unavoidable. The main aim of the study is to give up-to-date revision of world species of genus Cordyla, to solve the possible problems of synonymics, find firm, least variable characteristics for determination for both male and female specimens, determine the criteria for species using the type material and morphological comparison. With the help of character matrix, phylogenesis of world Cordyla species can be reconstructed. Taxonomic study of this group serves as a basis for further studies of ecology and distribution of these insects.
