description: | Using available data and appropriate elaborations elusitate and generalize mean annual organic carbon inflow into the soils (totally 10-12 reference soil groups of Estonian postlithogenic mineral soils) in composition of litterfall in typical for region land use conditions; - generalize the data on organic carbon mineralization intensity for different soil type as well as its annual dynamics and ecological causality; - on the base of soil typology elusidate sequestrated in soils organic matter composition organic carbons superficial density as well as its distribution peculiarities in soil profile; - work out found upon ecological regularities the teoretical principles for regulation of soil organic carbon circulation in dependence from regional climatic and pedological peculiarities; - specify in relation to long-term human influence the impact mechanisms, their directions and influence stages to epipedon morphology and humus status of dominated in Estonian soil cover soil species and varieties. The results of the project enable to have good outline of the soil cover role in occured on the ecosystem level carbon cycling, elucidate the peculiarities of different soil type influences and land use characters on the carbon circulation directions, and help to find ways for its ecologically sound regulation by scientifically proved soil management systems. The fulfilment of the research helps to develop of agriculture and forest management in way which are at the same time friendly for the environment as well as have high productivity efficiency. For receiving of greater systemity the researched in relation of different soil and land use types soil organic carbon circulation will be binded with our previous elaborations on soils productivity, moisture conditions of soils, turnover of ash elements and nitrogen, and with soil environment protection ability. The last elaborations have been the main subjects of applicant previous projects. |
