title: Processes in geophysics driven by turbulent caharacter of motion
reg no: ETF5009
project type: Estonian Science Foundation research grant
subject: 1.16. Marine Sciences and Limnology
status: completed
institution: TTU Marine Systems Institute
head of project: Jaak Heinloo
duration: 01.01.2002 - 31.12.2005
description:
1. The models of long term mean circulation in great lakes and shallow seas and of planetary zonal flows, based on the theory of rotationally anisotropic turbulence will be formulated.

The first model founds the mean circulation in great lakes and shallow seas, not vanishing in the long term averaging process, by the interaction between the bottom's slope and Earth's rotation mediated by the antisynmmetric stress.

The second model formulates unique treatment of zonal flows in atmosphere trade winds in equatorial zone ant to East in the zones of hihger latitudes) and of Antarctic Circumpolar Current.

2. The numerical investications of the model of vertical layering process of thermohaline fields caused by double diffesivity will be continued anf finished.
