| description: | Transformation of state socialist society into market one meant change from a "gerontocratic" to a "youth-oriented" society. However, the problems of the younger generations have also sharpened during some last years. Especially complicated process is the youth's transition from school to the labour market. The main goal of the project is to analyze factors affecting the youth's transition from school to the labour market. How problematic it is at all to enter into the labour market for different groups of youth, what is the situation and conditions of youth in the labour market, career opportunities, attitudes of employers towards young people, do young people once droped out from school, continue their studies later etc. Empirically the research will be based on Youth module data. Youth module on transition from school to work is designed alredy and will be included into the Estonian Labour Force Survey 2002 . We plan to analyze the broad variety of different factors, such as personal resources (for example money, education, skills, health, social connections and so on), and ascriptive variables (gender, nationality, age). Youth problems in the labour market (the way of getting a job, the type of employment contract, the risk of work exclusion etc) will be analysed against the backdrop of whole population. The project allows to analyse the process of transition from school to the labour market in complex and to work out measures to improve this process. Taking account the fact, that question on youth's transition from school to the labour market will be analysed in other European countries as well, there will be an opportunity to find out how similar/different is Estonia against backdrop of Europe.. |
