description: | The main purpose of proposed project is to construct a pilot test unit for investigation of low quality solid fuels (ash rich, high moisture, the slagging tendency of ash, aerosol fly ash) combustion regimes at specific conditions (at low frequency sonic field) with thermal capacity up to 50 kW. The conditions of burning will be investigated by measuring the heat fluxes, temperatures of flue gas and its content (including solid particle concentration), intensity of fouling at convective surfaces, etc. Also the cleaning effect of the convective surfaces by the sonic field will be investigated. The purposes of investigations at that pilot test unit can be formulated as: - to improve the technologies for cleaning or preventing deposition on convective surfaces of boilers (sonic cleaning); - to improve the methods of decreasing the emission of hazardous waste produced by small-scale boilers (sonic stimulation of combustion); - to improve the methods of design calculations of small-scale boilers. The results of proposed investigation enable: - to improve diagnostics of thermal power equipment (the technology of fouling simulation probes); - to improve the design calculation methods of small-scale boilers for biofuel; - to have a scientifically based arguments on the possibility to introduce the inciniration of municipal waste in Estonia; - to improve our knowledges of the sonic stimulation of combustion and efficiency of sonic cleaning of boiler surfaces from ash deposits. |
