description: | The main aim of this project is to study the influence of the chemical nature of electrode material (Bi, Cd, Au, C, Ag, Hg) as well as the crystallographic structure of electrode surface (i.e. the influence of the reticular density of plane and concentration of surface defects) on the kinetics of the formation and on the stability of long-chain aliphatic alcohols, carboxylic acids and sulphur-containing compound self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). Using cyclic voltammetry, impedance and AFM methods, the influence of the reticular density of modified electrode surface on the adsorption and charge transfer characteristics of various redox systems ([Fe(CN)6]3-/4-; [Ru(NH3)6]3+/2+; [W(CN)8]3-/4-) at electrochemically polished Bi, Cd and on cut C(0001) planes will be established. The influence of the crystallographic inhomogeneity of an electrode surface on the long-range electron transfer parameters on variously pretreated Bi, Cd and C electrodes (cut at the temperature of liquid hydrogen, electrochemically etched, chemically etched and mechanically polished) will be studied. Dependence of SAMs properties, i.e. the "dielectrical barrier" parameters on the organic compound structure and chemical nature will be established. The influence of the electrode charge density on the attractive interaction between modified electrode surface and redox probes (disolved in solution or adsorbed on an electrode surface) will be obtained. |
