reg no: ETF5215
project type: Estonian Science Foundation research grant
subject: 5.5. Pedagogy
status: completed
institution: University of Tartu

description: The main aim of the study is to investigate the relationships between strength and endurance characteristics, and the level of physical activity and body composition in girls at different levels of biological maturation. According to the main aim of the project, the specific purposes of this project are to:
1. find relationships between strength and endurance characteristics in girls at different levels of physical activity (participation in compulsory physical education classes only, participation in strength or endurance oriented sport events in addition to compulsory physical education classes) and of biological maturation (according to Tanner stages).
2. find relationships between anthropometric and body composition parameters, and strength and endurance characteristics in girls at different levels of physical activity (participation in compulsory physical education classes only, participation in strength or endurance oriented sport events in addition to compulsory physical education classes) and of biological maturation (according to Tanner stages).
3. find relationships between anthropometric, body composition, strength and endurance parameters, and bone density indices in girls at different levels of physical activity (participation in compulsory physical education classes only, participation in strength or endurance oriented sport events in addition to compulsory physical education classes) and of biological maturation (according to Tanner stages).
The relationships between strength and endurance characteristics, and the level of physical activity and body composition in girls at different levels of biological maturation throughout the puberty will be studied in complex for the first time in Estonia.
