| description: | The aim of the project is description of the elements of mythic consciousness in contemporary culture from the aspect of proper name. Concrete studies will concentrate on the following: *proper name as a bearer of political and consumer ideologies *the role of proper name as a bearer of national identity (comparative analysis of the cultural wolrd of proper names among the last grades of Estonian and Russian gymnasiums) *proper name as a natural characteristic of poetic texts *the status of naming taboos in contemporary language use *proper name as formative element of a child's world It is aimed at to reach generalizations on the function of the proper name, and through it, also on the unconscious processes functioning in culture. It is also the logico-semantic and semiotic analysis that must cast light at meaning creation mechanisms that concern proper name. Within the project it is planned to organize an international conference on the semiotics of the proper name in spring 2003, and to publich a collection of articles by the end of the project. |
