description: | .The aim of the present study is 1) to find out if the mother-child transmission of mutans streptococci can be reduced with xylitol in Estonia , where caries incidence is comparatively high in deciduous and permenent teeth comparing to the advanced Scandinavian countries.2) We also aim to find out how mothers who most probably are not earlier familiar with the beneficial effects of xylitol or the concept of intrafamiliar transmisson of mutans streptococci accept the idea of the study.3) to study dental anxiety changes due to the the reductive effect of xylitol on plaque Str.mutans counts in mothers and their small children. Further we intend to study whether specifically tailored dental education and teaching reduces dental anxiety in young mothers4) To evaluate caries prevalence in deciduous dentition of 2-4-years-old children .. |
