Results of the scientific research work of the principal investigator of this project during more than 40 years and his experience in the practical forest pathology, obtained during his long-lasted working under the Minis-tery of Forestry and Nature Conservation of Estonia are worth of collection into an original forest pathology handbook in Estonian language. Before that, for the completeness of the material, which will be presented in the book, some problematic or absolutely not learned problems have to be solved by special investigations, e.g. the diseases of deciduous trees in forest nurseries and stands of different age and species; Armillaria spp. in the complexes of root rot diseases of forest trees, etc. During his research work the principal investi-gator has found pecularities in the life cycles, ecology and biology of different forest diseases, belonging to all the largest forest disease types (nursery diseases, diseases of foliage, shoots of conifers, root rot disea-ses) and established some original classifications (e.g. of forest nursery diseases). It justifies compilation namely an original handbook of this profession and not translating of some appropriate one from the neigh-bouring countries. |
