description: | The goal of the research is to analyse the relations between human capital and social capital, as significant factors of sustainable economic development, their effect on economic growth and the effect of economic growth on the formation of those sources. Preliminary work hypothesis states that named relations exist, but for the more exact statements the related theory must be thoroughly studied. To measure the levels of relations, the problems of quantitative measuring must be solved. The main question is the measurement of social capital, as obviously the whole complexity of phenomenon cannot be reduced to a few simple characteristics. It is planned to start with the preparation and conducting a survey, to estimate significance of the different types of social capital in Estonian economic environment. Resulting from the inconsistency of the different aspects of human capital and social capital, it is needed to analyse theoretically the possibilities of using them in economic growth models. The final objective is to create an economic growth model, which allows estimating the role of studied factors in Estonian economy. To sum it up, the project can be divided into the following subtopics: Theoretical approach to human capital and social capital and their measuring possibilities (hypothesis: both can be treated as different types of capital, for which the amounts are possible to increase by investments and which are sources for economic growth). The relations between human capital and social capital (hypothesis: the amount of human capital and its possible usability depends on existing social capital, the same can be claimed in opposite direction). The inverse relation between human capital and social capital to the economic growth (hypothesis: to create (and recreate) the described capital types, the economic growth must be sufficiently high). Using the characteristics of human capital and social capital to estimate the economic growth with the empirically verifiable models (hypothesis: there exist characteristics that can be used to study the existence of statistically significant relations). |
