description: The general aim of the study is to investigate pupils` knowledge on three domains - social relations (aggressiveness and rejection), health (diseases), natural science (the composition of matter, physical and chemical changes), the development of this knowledge and the factors that influence the development. Pupils from elementary, basic and high school are questioned. In addition to pupils from ordinary classes, childern with specific learning difficulties are also included. The factors which influence is studied, are: the level of thinking, reasoning abilities, attention, memory, motivational beliefs and orientations.
A model on how the level of thinking, abilities and motivation influences the development of knowledge will be presented.
In addition, the developmental change and peculiarities of motivational beliefs and their relations to thinking are studied.
