title: Research of machinery use and working environment in unheated (cold) cowsheds and designing ergonomically and ecologically safe animal keeping technologies with suitable machinery systems
reg no: ETF5428
project type: Estonian Science Foundation research grant
subject: 2.10. Mechanical Engineering
status: accepted
institution: EAU Faculty of Agricultural Engineering
head of project: Boris Reppo
duration: 01.01.2003 - 31.12.2006
description: Objective of the project is to research machinery use and working environment in unheated (cold) cowsheds in Estonia and based on research results to give recommendations to agricultural enterprises and projecting institutions for designing farm technology and machinery systems with rational and safe working environment. Complex study on working environment is carried out on farms with different herd sizes and different housing during which are determined by seasons work and energy expenditure, inside and outside climate of the building (air temperature, relative humidity, circulation speed, the amount of oxygen, carbon dioxide, ammonia) and workers' energy load and working capacity daily variation. Specialists and advisory services get better possibilities to advise rational and safer for working environment machinery systems for implementation in Estonian climate conditions and existing production farms and to give necessary information to institutions that design standards and development trends for animal keeping.
