description: Degenerative joint diseases have developed into significant health problem in the entire world. Currently the arthroplasty of hip and knee joint are one of the most frequent surgeries in developed countries. Epidemiologically is the biggest frequency of arthroplasty of hip and knee joint on patients of age 65-79. The frequency depends on geographic region, age, sex, race. Approximately 65% of undergone surgery are women. For instance there are approximately 400 000 arthroplasty of hip joint in the world yearly. In Tartu University Clinics there are approximately 450 surgeries of this kind each year.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the changes of the force distribution of the foot (Footscan 3D Box Scientific) and muscle functions (EMG, Mega Electronics) in the early stage of rehabilitation after the arthroplasty. 50 female and male patients with knee and hip endoprothesis, whose status will be evaluated 1 month before and on the 3th and 6th months after surgery.
This kind of new complex approach to the disease-related changes of hip and knee joint as pre- as postsurgical stage makes finally possible to create a new treatment and diagnostical quality and evidence based methodics for this kind of patients.
