title: The Synthesis and Study of Basicity noncyclic Polyphosphazenes - P3- and P4 bases.
reg no: ETF5508
project type: Estonian Science Foundation research grant
subject: 1.6-1.9. Chemistry and Molecular Biology
status: accepted
institution: TU Faculty of Physics and Chemistry
head of project: Toomas Rodima
duration: 01.01.2003 - 31.12.2006
description: This project will elaborate furthor the main goals of our previous ESF grant 3992- the extension of basicity skales in nonpolar solvents towards the more basic direction by means of phosphazene bases. The synthesis of P3- and P4- bases, the establishment of their acid-base properties should prolong the basicity scale in acetonitrile and tetrahydrofuran and even in heptane to the region of basicity where it is possible to connect and compare the acidity scales built by means of CH-acids (basicity scale of carbanions) with basicity scales compiled on the basis of neutral N-bases ( (amines, phosphazenes). The Kirsanov and Staudinger reactions will be used for synthesis of P3- and P4- phosphazene bases. The UV-VIS spectrophotometric titration method will be used for pKa measurements.
