duration: 01.01.2003 - 31.12.2005
description: High resolution solid state NMR by magic angle spinning (MAS) technique will be developed at low temperatures. For that purpose a MAS NMR probehead will be designed and constructed working in temperature range 30K to 300K with spinning speed at least 5000 kHz.
Systematic study of the materials and specific conditions for low temperature rotation with cold He as driving and bearing gas will be carried out.
With this variable temperature MAS probe several MAS NMR measurements will be carried out on the objects where usual wide line NMR spectroscopy does not allow to separate resonances from different sites in the lattice. We consider recording of the temperature dependency of 29-Si and 27-Al NMR spectra and spin-lattice relaxation of potassium doped electrosodalite and 199-Hg NMR measurements on Hg-1223 type high temperature superconductors in order to establish the local value of the electronic spin density and spin dynamics in these compounds.
