description: | The main objectives of this project are the studies of the adhesion phenomena to determine the surface energy parameters for porous and soaking substrates like wood as well as future development of the existing method and its application for various liquids and substrates. It has great importance to find their appliance in Estonia in experimentations of the high-technological adhesives. The results are also completion of the Ph.D. thesis and publication of the results in the peer reviewed journals. The adhesion phenomena play important role in many technological and natural processes. Surface free energy measurement is one of the main methods when investigating adhesion. Exhaustive fundamental and applied researches in this field have given a lot of information about adhesive receipt, condition of the synthesis, gluing technology, physical-mechanical properties of the adhesive joint and aging. Despite of these large studies have not been investigated for example physical processes, what will take place between wood and adhesive and their association with adhesive molecule structure. As one research method is planned to use meniscus method, what is developed with contribution to the previous ETF grants G-117 and G-2934. The measurement method's equipment and software requires further development. Existing equipment is based on the analogue measure technique, but the use of fully digital measurement equipment allows increasing measurement accuracy about three times. Software needs modernization, because it demands too much of the computer memory resources. It is necessary to comparison the method with other methods. As a substrates is planned to use organic (various wood species, polymers) and inorganic (metal, semiconductor) materials and study different surface treatments to them. |
