description: | Continuous monitoring of technological processes is necessary in modern manufacturing to satisfy quality demands and avoid faults. The applied project is a follow-up to the previous ESF grant G5162 "Video measuring module for technological machinery". The main targed of this research is to integrate during G5162 elaborated video measuring module as well as other digital measurement apparatus and digital read-out systems on machine tools into single, networked knowledge supplied chain. Modernisation of laboratories at TTU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering as a pilot project and applying of gained experiences in Estonian metal-working industries are direct outputs of this work. More specifically the goals are: elaboration of the concept and methodology of technological information monitoring; realisation of monitoring network by building up a local network at TTU Laboratory of Production Engineering; integration of devised video measuring system of tool wear into the network; monitoring of technological parameters (tool wear, cutting temperature) in the network; generalisation of gathered data and giving practical recommendations to metal-working industries; giving recommendations for the system exploitation at TTU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. There are three realisation levels: Local - information gathered from a single machine tool or cell; Enterprise - information about several machine tools or machine cells collected by network; and Global - ingormation offered by enterprises or units about offering/demanding vacant technological resources. |
