title: Investigation of Ash Deposits Formation on the Convective Heating Surfaces at Burning Solid Fuels in CFB
reg no: ETF5646
project type: Estonian Science Foundation research grant
subject: 2.5. Power Engineering
status: accepted
institution: TTU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
head of project: Toomas Tiikma
duration: 01.01.2003 - 31.12.2006
description: It is evident that in the nearest decades the main part of electrical and heat energy will be produced in Estonia as before by the powerplants utilizing domestic solid fuels, mainly oil shale. The development of the Estonian oil shale power engineering requires the elaboration of the proved recommendations concerning the choice of the running regimes of power equipment. The planning built-up of boilers with circulating fluidized bed at Narva power plants will demand the detailed studies of conditions for the depositions at the heating surfaces in the fluidized bed and in convective gas duct. It may be determined the actual influence of the depositions on the operation of the heat-exchange equipment only by integrated approach to the given problem, which includes among others the following items:
- the study of the particles deposition from the aerosol flow onto the surfaces under the conditions of the fluidized bed;
- the analysis of the experimental data concerning the deposit formation, their structure and physical properties;
- the development of the estimation criteria of quality of the heat-exchange surfaces concerning the formation and removal of the depositions;
- the elaboration of the effective method of abatement of the fouling and the essential decreasing of deleterious effect from the cleaning on the equipment and environment as well as the cost cutting of this process.
The objective of the investigations within the framework of the present grant is to research the nature of phenonenon of deposition of solid particles from the aerosol flow under the condition of circulating fluidized bed at test rig, which is under constraction in EIER using know how of TED of TTU.
