description: | Biosynthesis, degradatation and their regulation of nucleic acids and proteins as biological macromolecules is to be studied both in eukaryotic and procaryotic systems. The field is fundamental science. Main objects are bacterial ribosome, r-proteins and rRNAs, and the genetic code. Main problems are ribosome biogenesis, in particlur ribosome assembly and ribosomal rationale for the universal genetic code. On the other hand we study functioning of kaspases, a group of specific proteases, during programmed cell death in neural cell lines. Both subtopics have been studied in our labs during several years and therefore are contiuational. Both graduate and undergrauate students take part in the project. The results will be published in scientific journal with high impact factor. |
