description: | The investigation will be conducted as a complex research of all factors of land cultivation (soil tillage, grain rotation; weed control using all possible measures) as well as plant cultivation (plant species, mixed crops, variety groups). Attention will be given to the agroecological aspects of soil tillage, which would simultaneously ensure optimal growth conditions for cultivated plants, reduce the number of cultivations to a minimum and preserve or even increase soil fertility. The aim is to find out the optimal parameters and criteria of the soil properties developed by using various methods, as well as relationships between growth conditions and bioproduction of cultivated plants and quality characteristics of the yield. Another aim is to find out, within a rational plant and land cultivation system, differentiated measures of weed, pest and disease control, suitable for different cultivation methods, as depending on environmental conditions, specialisation of production and economic resources. Parameters will be established for testing and developing of a computer-based system of counselling for plant protection in Estonia. It is planned to actively participate in a Danish-Estonian joint project aimed at the testing of the suitability of the Danish plant protection program of an internet based decision support system for integrated pest management in the conditions of Estonia. Research in the area of mixed crops of legumes-cereals and cultivation of triticale and winter and spring rape will be intensified. Primary focus will be placed on the influence of climatic and man-made growth factors on the dynamics of formation of biomass of different plant organs. |
