| description: | The project is aimed to continue the previous research theme by the same team that was focused on the economic and social resources of Estonian families. The planned study will be focused on the possible choices of strategies of families of different social strata utilised for ajustment to the changing socio-economic situation in Estonia, and the effect of the socioecological and ecocultural environment on the choices of strategies. The goals of the study are: (1) to analyse the changes in the basic functions of families, (2) to study the choices of the coping and adaptive strategies of families of different social strata; (3) to analyse the ecocultural differences in the opportunities of the choices of most rational strategies; (4) to work out the typology of families based on the strategies used; (5) to work out the system of indicators to measure the adjustment success of families of different social strata. The practical goal of the study is to carry out a population syrvey 'Estonia 2003', the new one in the series of surveys that started in 1985. An analytical developmental pattern of the Esonian family for the period 1985-2003, based on the data gathered by the previous population surveys as well as the new one, is panned to be formulated. |
