| description: | The main aim of the topic is to provide an all-around and integrated view of the lexical and grammatical structure of Modern Estonian. In essence the planned study belongs to fundamental linguistic studies with several applied aspects. Both the fundamental and applied studies are planned to concentrate on the following spheres of the lexical and grammatical structure of the Estonian language, its planning and formal representation: 1. Semantic analysis of the vocabulary of the written standard, lexical layers and the theory of lexicon; 2. Language planning and terminology; 3. Relations between grammar and lexicon; 4. Language technology and computer linguistics. The studies are meant to provide new information on the subject. Several aspects of the study will enrich general linguistics. The results are meant to be implemented in academic dictionaries, in language planning, terminology and language technology in order to provide for the natural development of the Estonian language. The study and its applications are meant to remarkably contribute to the functioning of the Estonian state and culture providing for the continuation of Estonian as a high-quality state language used in all spheres of life. |
