| description: | The planned activities are centered upon studies of the structure of matter through interactions with radiation over a broad energy range from Atto-eV to Tera-eV. The latter involves participation in Higgs boson and baryon mass creation physics at the Large Hadron Collider project at CERN according to the 23.04.1996 collaboration contract. Closely related are experimental studies into the physics of entanglement and state vector collapse. In condensed phase physics the main emphasis is on NMR, mostly structural studies of structure/function relations in zeolites, catalysis, magnetic materials and superconductors, fuel cell materials, in organic chemistry, in proteomics and functional genomics. For lattice dynamics, quantum chemistry methods are used, based on our scalable 20-node SGI Origin 2000 supercomputer. Terahertz spectroscopy, laser spectroscopy and various forms of mass spectrometry are developed and widely used with applications in solid state and high energy physics, in biochemistry and trace analysis together with modern chromatography. |
