This project studies the possibilities of using short flax fibres, tow, and flax fibres obtained from oil flax stalks in manufacturing technical textiles used primarily in agriculture, such as cover veils, mulch, webs, mats, growth media, pots, geo-textiles and insulation materials, according to both dry methods ¿ stitch-bonding and hot-rolling carded web ¿ and wet methods, i.e. bonding fibres with water-soluble glues. The project involves testing developed materials in agricultural production where their biological resistance and influence on plant cultivation is ascertained. A technology for production will be developed which will be introduced in flax cultivation in Estonia. This year constitutes the third stage of the project. |
