The project aims at determining the productivity limits of an energy-efficient sewage disposal technology based on the wetland ecosystem for the purpose of treatment of municipal and industrial sewage and waters, rich in phenols, from semi-coke dumps in Kohtla-Järve, and optimising several burden and design parameters of the system. The outcome would allow the burden of necessary pretreatment on the existing artificial facility and the need for renovation of the same to be ascertained. The ultimate goal is to find a sewage treatment method which is as energy-efficient as possible. Upon completion of the project, the base data for designing ecosystem-based purifiers for the entire region in question should exist, as well as the instructions for operating the wetland process. |
