description: | The present work involves measuring and predicting thermodynamic and transport properties of fuels, especially condensation/vaporization caharacteristics of oilshale and biomass oils/tar. This topic is related to the subject of replacement traditional petrochemical fuels by alternative fules from domestic sources: oilshale and biomass. Vapor pressure, liquid-vapor equilibrium and enthalpies are needed both for oil production and handling - the data can be used to optimize processes and in modeling. Developing an improved ability to predict vapor pressures is one of the remaining critical issues to be resolved in pyrolysis modeling. There has been also significant current interest in the general environmental area, particularly with respect to enviromental regulations. |
