description: | Invstigation of artificial lighting and CO2- enrichment problems by year-round flower production. If to look the development in greenhouse horticulture may predict remarkable rise of share this area in agricultural production in the near future. Use of new cultivation ways, also consumer's propitious attitude to the native production creates presumptions for greenhouse management to get out from low-level status quo. From trends in greenhouse production in last time is necessary to mark the turn over all-the-year-round production and it also in floriculture. In the key position in this is the rational use of energy sumptuous addition lightening method. Especially actual is it in cut roses cultivation technology and biology. Analogical questions coming out also by lilies, Holland's irises, tulips and other more cultivated cultures in our land. Unavoidable by all-the-year-round cultivation is the enrichment with carbon dioxide. In 1999 the calculated production content of flower production on the basic of interview of Estonian Flower Federation was at least 71 million crowns, from that 22.1 million for a roses (data's from ESA on year 2001).The main aim of current applied investigation is the more effective use of contemporary ecofysiological knowledge's in our greenhouse horticulture. As a direct result we regard to create system for getting more qualities and better-preserved cut flowers than in system used up to now. That makes possible to compete more successful our production with import production being in transport stress. In planning work will be investigated the vertical distribution of radiation and formed structure of light field in vegetation by use of artificial light. Necessary is to specify question about convenience of lights wits mended spectrum in our production conditions. We hope to get answers also from analyze of photosynthesis light trend lines of plant leaves. In current work the second important investigation direction formed the problems of addition nutrition with carbon dioxide of greenhouse cultures. Pure carbon dioxide is largely used in our greenhouse horticulture. Determinative is the price difference compared to the gas procurable by burning. Use of pure CO2 is limited by monopoly status of gas firm AGA in Estonia and price politic connected with that. To change the situation is necessary to make air analysis in gardening farms using the different methods. Also is necessary to make the comparative economic analyzes about efficiency of different enrichments methods. All farms working with greenhouse floriculture can use results of this investigation. On the data of last agricultural roll call the producers use 21 ha greenhouse area, from what on 10.2 ha cultivated roses. Opinion is real to rise the capacity of Estonian flower production without enlarge the existing area with 5¿10 million crown in year. Application of addition light and enrichment with carbon dioxide will increase amount of native production and will make better his quality. |
