description: Hoof diseases are one of the most common disease in the dairy cattle. The economic impact of hoof disease and lameness are due to decreased milk yield, discarded milk due to treatment, cost of treatment, decreased reproductive perfomance and animal welfare. Digital dermatitis is a contagious disorder of dairy cattle. During the past 15 years, the disease has become an important cause of lameness in dairy cattle worldwide. A disease has been diagnosed by clinical symptoms, but identification and isolation hasn¿t been done in Estonia.
The main objectives of the project are:
1) to collect information about prevalence of digital dermatitis in Estonian dairy herd.
2) to get laboratory diagnosis via the histological and bacteriological evaluation
3) to carry out the most effective treatment procedure and preventive measures for Estonian dairy herds
