| description: | The research project aims to work on the following related but different directions of geometry of Banach spaces. (1) Uniform factorization theory for compact sets in Banach spaces of compact and weakly compact operators will be developed. (2) Vector-valued extensions of the classical Simons' inequality will be established and applied to linear and nonlinear geometries of Banach spaces. (3) Geometric position of the subspace of compact operators in larger Banach spces of operators will be studied. In particular, estimates for the norms of projections onto this subspace will be obtained. (4) Interplay between different approximation properties of Banach spaces will be studied and operator ideal approximation properties will be characterized. (5) Studies (from the previous Estonian Science Foundation project) on the geometric structure of dual spaces of Banch spaces in terms of M-ideals, their various generalizations, and unique extension properties of functionals will be continued further. |
