description: | Existing (developed for low-resolution hydrostatic models) parameterization schemes of subgrid physical processes will be modified, and new parameterization schemes will be developed, for a new (ESF Grants 2624 & 4700), very high resolution (grid-step 2.75 km), non-hydrostatic and surface pressure adjusted numerical model of atmospheric dynamics. The aim of the parameterization is an adequate description of energy and mass transfer processes in the planetary boundary layer as well as of convective moist processes bringing to the formation of convective cloudiness and precipitation . As a result, the modeling and prediction capability of the developed numerical model will be essentially improved. The resulting new numerical model will be implemented as the non-hydrostatic extension of HIRLAM and will be applied for weather forecasting and for solution of other actual environmental problems in Estonia and in the other HIRLAM participating countries . |
