description: To publish all the Arabic coins from the 8-11th c. preserved in Estonian public collections as a sylloge (every coin described in detail and phtographed). Thanks to the generous financial support by the Estonian Science Foundation the Anglo-Saxon and English pennies as well as their Scandinavian and other imitations from Estonian collections (c 1500 coins) are published already by the British Academy and the corresponding works including the data-basis and photographing the coins also have been made for the German deniers of the 10-12th c. (c 6500 coins). So the proposed book should complete a large project covering almost all the Viking-Age coins preserved in Estonian collections (a considerably few coins struck elsewhere can be published in separate articles). As a pioneer project in whole Europa it makes unique numismatic sources available to all Estonian and foreign scolars dealing with numismatic, archaeological, historical, paleographic, linguistic etc problems.
