title: DEPENDENCE OF OPTICAL AND ELECTRICAL AEROSOL SPECTROMETER INTERCOMPARABILITY ON ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS.
reg no: ETF5855
project type: Estonian Science Foundation research grant
subject: 1.4. Astronomy
status: accepted
institution: University of Tartu
head of project: Aadu Mirme
duration: 01.01.2004 - 31.12.2006
description: The goals of the project are:
to assess the correlation of the differences of the electrical and optical aerosol measurements with environmental and weather conditions;
to improve the comparability of the data measured with different aerosol spectrometers;
to assess a possibility of gaining additional information on aerosol particle properties and physical structure by analysing the measurement results of the spectrometers operated side-by-side in parallel;
to introduce a regular fulfillment of the internet weather station database of Institute of Environmental Physics with aerosol distribution data and the pesentation via Internet.
The outcome will be:
the knowledge about the origin of the differences between the electrical and optical spectrometers, and possible use of that in aerosol research;
the increase of the quality and trustfulness of the aerosol research performed at the University of Tartu;
Popularisation of the advantages of the electrical aerosol measurement principle developed at TU in the aerosol research and in ambient air monitoring applications
