title: The technology and properties of nanocrystalline deformable rare earth metals
reg no: ETF5878
project type: Estonian Science Foundation research grant
subject: 2.2. Materials Science
status: completed
institution: TTU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
head of project: Lembit Kommel
duration: 01.01.2004 - 31.12.2005
description: The purpose of the present project are optimization of the developed and publiched by grant addressee technological process of deformed metals structure and properties changes and their connecting depending from effective strain and temperature in condition of severe plastic deformation (SPD) by equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) method.
For this purpose it is necessary the metals experimental severe plastic deformation in ECAP-die and investigation their structure and properties change.
As a result of these base research work is exepted, that by use this tehchnology and now-how it is necessary the manufacturing from deformable rare earths (Nb, Ta) metals nanocrystalline high technology materials with optimal mechanical and physical properties, offer recommendations from SPD-process directing and from nanocrustalline structure deformable rare erths metals manufacturing process teoretical base working off.
In result the SPD the metals srtucture and mechanical and physical properties (depending on technological parameters date and starting materials) maybe different from different deformable rare earths metals, the these parameters optimization is actual.
This investigation allows to complite the SPD-theory and increase the deformable metals mechanical and physical properties, that is extremly important from hihgest mechanical properties rare earths metals in high technology installations use.
