duration: 01.01.2004 - 31.12.2006
description: Today, one of the main disadvantages of thin film solar cells are the imperfections in the structure of absorber layer. They causes low efficiency and reliability of produced solar cells. Large amount of the generated carriers are absorbed by the nanosize structure defects, impurities and pores.

One of the main ways to improve the structure of the film's crystals and reduce the concentration of impurities is the recrystallization of the films structure. In the present project the recrystallization of CdTe thin film is planned to study by three different principles:
recrystallization process in the presence of liquid phase (low temperature recrystallization: 0,3-0,6 of Tm -melting temperature);
recrystallization in the solid phase at high temperature (0,75-0,85 Tm);
recrystallization in the solid phase at high temperature and high pressure.

The main goal of the investigation is preparation of solar cells with significantly improved optical and electrical properties. Obtained results are important for understanding of recrystallization processes in the thin films. Owning the positive results, the high temperature recrystallization is planned to apply for the thin films for other compositions like CuInS2.
