The main objective of the research is to define the development trends of the Estonian energy sector to ensure sustainable development. The expected results of the research are development and improvement of the sustainable development evaluation (measuring) methods for the energy sector and on the basis of these, prognostication of the development of the Estonian energy sector and trajectories for convergence to the European Union. In terms of application, the results should facilitate improvement of the energy sector development plans and elaboration of energy and environmental policies and harmonisation of these plans and policies with other spheres of economic activity.
