description: | The first objective of the proposed project is to characterize viral suppressors of PTGS from plant virus genus Sobemovirus and to a lesser extent from genus Potyvirus. We plan also to analyse other functions of these named suppressors during the virus life cycle. The second objective of the project is the identification of host factors required for PTGS. For that we plan to exploit the molecular approach by using bacterial and yeast two hybrid systems, co-immunoprecipitations (IPs) and other techniques to identify host components interacting with the suppressors of PTGS. Besides these genome-wide screening approaches it is planned to focus more specifically on the potential role in gene silencing of some plant proteins homologous to animal RNA-degrading 2-5A system |
