title: Sonoelectrochemical Analysis of Heavy Metals
reg no: ETF6006
project type: Estonian Science Foundation research grant
subject: 1.6. Physical, Analytical and Inorganic Chemistry
status: accepted
institution: Environmental Protection Institute
head of project: Lembit Nei
duration: 01.01.2004 - 31.12.2006
description: The aim of the project is to develop and test novel sonoelectroanalytical methods for detecting heavy metal (namely Pb, Cd, Hg, Zn and Cu) ions in "real media". The general strategy of of sonoelectroanalytical detection of heavy metals has been recently developed, but still several problems involving the reliability of the analysis remain unsolved. We intend to continue our work in three general directions:

(1) The development, studies and application of novel, cheap and reliable electrode materials;

(2) The development and testing of new analytical schemes for simultanous detection of heavy metal ions;

(3) The development of sonoelectroanalytical methods for "real media" (waste water, blood, food products, etc.)
