title: Measurement of essential parameters of surface and measurement uncertainty
reg no: ETF6172
project type: Estonian Science Foundation research grant
status: accepted
institution: Tallinn Technical University
head of project: Rein Laaneots
duration: 01.01.2005 - 31.12.2007
description: For the economical development, environment protection and products safety and health protection is essential that measurements in Estonia are assured through standards in 14 measurement area (Estonian metrology development plan for 2004-2007). Above 14 includes also development of surface roughness and hardness standards.
Aim of the research work is to help to work out the national measurement system in Estonia for protection of persons and development of the infrastructure up to 2010.
Research work includes working out the theoretical and methodological basis for realibility of measurement of surface essential parameters, as roughness, waveness, hardness, form and so on. Based on above research shall be developed concrete methods for traceability assurance and validation and taking part from intercalibrations.
Practical result of the work is reference standards for the surface roughness and hardness in 2008 in Estonia.
