title: Fundamentals of thermochemical co-processing of fossil and renewable fuels and organic wastes
reg no: SF0142722s06
project type: targeted financing
subject: 2.6. Chemical Engineering
status: accepted
institution: Tallinn Technical University
head of project: Hans Luik
duration: 01.01.2006 - 31.12.2011
description: Advanced methods of thermochemical co-processing of Estonian fossil and renewable resources (Kukersite and Dictyonema oil shales, peat, species of terrestrial and aquatic vegetative biomass) and technological wastes as plastics (PE, PP, PVC, PET, kapron), tyres and harmful shale semicoke and pitch to obtain unconventional oil, liquid fuel and chemicals will be worked out. Fitting components, their ratio and conditions of pyrolysis, hydrogenation, sub- and supercritical extraction will be found to evoke additive and synergetic effects in products yield and composition. Regularities of multilateral interactions of thermochemical co-liquefaction between blended kerogeneous, lignocellulosic and polymeric organic matter items will be elucidated. Results of this study will represent scientific and technological fundamentals for co-processing, complex utilization and upgrading of available organic reserve for maximum realization of its oil-generating potential, and for diminution overall environmental pollution.
