title: Cellular, develomental and evolutionary factors in the development of organisms and in formation of animal biodiversity
reg no: SF0182691s05
project type: targeted financing
subject: 1.8. Molecular Biology
1.15. Zoology
3.1. Basic Medicine
status: accepted
institution: University of Tartu
head of project: Alar Karis
duration: 01.01.2005 - 31.12.2010
description: The planned study is carried out on cell, organism, population and species level. Current proposal has three main objectives:
1. Charactertization of internalization mechanisms and specificity of cellular transporters, and application in the studies of early embryonic development of mammals.
2. The analysis of mammalian developmental mechanisms using the technique of gene targeting
3. To elucidate the formation of evolutionary lineages among animal populations and their geographic distribution, based on genetic and palaeozoological analysis. In addition, phylogenetic and parasitological analysis in different animal groups will be carried out during this study.
