description: | Modeling methods for different types of noise sources are continuously getting better. However experimental methods of investigation based on measurements are still very reliable and effective for most of the cases. Due to better and more powerful computers and better numerical methods it has been possible to improve measurement technologies and methods. In this project the main target is to improve methods for experimental investigation of aerodynamic noise. It is mainly concentrated on gas flow in channels and flow noise, which has number of important applications (engines, compressors, fans) and which are frequently annoying sources of noise. The basic idea for new method is to use helium as an environment to simulate hot conditions in ducts. The speed of sound and density of helium is close to the hot gases. Helium is also safe in use and relatively inexpensive. Generally there is need to find answers to the questions: which are acoustical and dynamic properties of helium at the outlet from channel, how different viscosity oh helium influence the measurement results, how to measure helium percentage while the acoustic properties are determined. |
