title: Chiral diamines in organocatalytic and metal-mediated asymmetric reactions
reg no: ETF6662
project type: Estonian Science Foundation research grant
subject: 1.7. Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry
status: accepted
institution: TTU Faculty of Science
head of project: Tõnis Kanger
duration: 01.01.2006 - 31.12.2009
description: The main goals of the project are following:
1. Synthesis of a small target-oriented library of diamines
2. Development of new environmentally benign organocatalytic or efficient transition metal-mediated asymmetric synthetic methods on the basis of abovementioned compounds.
The library consists of substituted and unsubstituted bridged heterocyclic diamines which differ from each other by a specific feature of the structure (position of the bridge between cycles, substituent on N-atom or in the cycle, number of heteroatoms in the cycle). This element of the structure can be easily modified. Obtained compounds are used in organocatalytic reactions (Michael addition, epoxidation, phase transfer catalytic reactions) and in metal-mediated reactions (Rh-catalyzed reduction of ketones). The mechanism and stereoselectivity of the reactions will be investigated. According to the results new specific ligands are designed and target-oriented catalysts are synthesized and applied in new synthetic methods.
