description: | Substantially normalised interfacial Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (SNIFTIRS), second harmonic generation (SHG), cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, electrochemical impedance, in situ STM/AFM etc. methods will be applied for the study of adsorption and two dimensional (2D) condensation of pyridine, uracil, adenine, camphor, coumarine, aniline, cytosine, tetraalkylammonium cations and tiocarbamide molecules on the Bi(hkl), Cd(hklf) and C(0001) single crystal plane electrodes. The ratio of the interpreted band intensivities for the spectra recorded with p- and s-polarised light and in situ STM and AFM data will be used to establish the changes in the surface coordination of various organic molecules adsorbed. The models connecting the ratio of p- and s-polarised light and the virial surface area determined using AFM and STM as well as impedance data with the coefficient of partial charge transfer, limiting Gibbs adsorption, zero charge potential shift and tilt angle of molecule orientation, describing of the adsorbed molecule orientation at surface, will be developed future. The influence of the electrode potential and crystallographic structure (i.e. surface charateristics) and base electrolyte ion strengh and pH on the orientation and molecular structure of adsorbed molecules will be analysed. The comparative analysis of the adsorption kinetics data with the termodynamic adsorption characteristics obtained using cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry and impedance will be given. The influence of the solvent adsorption energy and temperature on the 2D condensation process will be discussed. |
