description: | In this project we propose to technically improve the system for the measurement of plant leaf photosynthesis, manufactured in the chair of plant physiology, Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, Tartu University. This is a complex instrument for the scientific investigation and diagnosis of the leaf photosynthetic machinery, where a number of environmental parameters, acting on the leaf, are varied, and the corresponding transient changes in the photosynthetic parameters are recorded. The general task is to make all parameters and their recording computer-controllable, with an aim to pre-program the time courses of experiments, during which the environmental parameters are changed and the following transients in the photosynthetic parameters recorded. A considerable part of this task has already been solved during the earlier work. In this project we propose to replace the old data-logging card ADIO 1600 by a more powerful card and to replace the so far used programming language Turbo Pascal by a contemporary programming language. Design and manufacturing of a differential spectrophotometer with very high signal/noise ratio and a special electro-pneumatic shutter with 1 ms flying time cover a considerable part of the project. |
